Game Notes Sydney Spirit vs. Wollongong Hawks

By Hursty

Welcome everyone to the first ever NBL game notes presented on hibachi. This was the first game I've been to in 2009 and it turned out to be a cracker! So, on with the show:

The game is at the State Sport Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush. AKA: Where the majority of the athletics were held in 2000.

This is the 400th game in the NBL for Spirit captain Jason Smith. Thats a huge achievement for a 6'4 white guy. He's been in the L since the 94/5 season and was the Captain of the Australian Boomers at the 2004 Olympics and was on the team for the 2008 season before shoulder surgery de-railed his campaign.

The 'defense' chants start early, and so does the heckling.

Money Bill's Hawks look good, getting a lot of kick n' drive for open 3's. Problem is, they aren't going in. Same goes for the Spirit.

The crowd is extremely vocal and into the game early. I have these kids a few rows behind me, probably around ages 12 or 13 yelling 'Saville sucks!' pretty often. I just laugh and keep taking notes.

Some things I notice straight away: For the Hawks, Kavossy Franklin (an American import, who's been in the NBL for quite a few years now) looks very lethargic and slow. Maybe he's carrying an injury. He used to be a 30pt scorer, now it seems like he's just an above-average 2 guard.
Matt Knight for the Spirit looks like Anderson Varejao. A lot. Same height and everything.Except that he would kill Anderson up in a fight. The Spirit are also very good at closing out to shooters and grabing defensive boards and pushing immediately.
Damian Martin is making his return from a broken wrist tonight, and he looks a bit shakey early on, the dribble is not quite there and he appears a little nervous-as would 99.9% of players in a return game.

Although the crowd is small (I'd say around 1600-2000 people) it is very noisy. I imagine it would be like a small college or a mid-sized H.S game environment.

Neither side can gain any real flow or momentum early and the 1st quarter ends around 20 apiece (sorry, but I had to go the little boys room, so I missed the score).

Checking back into the game (for me at least) and its 18-14 Spirit very early in the second quarter, with David Gruber having 10 off the bench.

Damian Martin does a nice little fake behind-the-back pass to Matty Knight as he runs the floor- a point guard rewarding his big man.

Glen Saville bangs a 3 at the other end. He's money. Glen played almost his entire career for the Hawks except for last season when he joined the now-defunct Sydney Kings for their runs to the Finals, where they were eventually beaten by the Melbourne Tigers.

The NBL has it's very own Dick Bavetta, just 20 years younger. Maybe they're cousins or something.

I'm sitting next to the Spirit swingman Graeme Dann's dad Mike. Mike talks alot and knows a LOT about the game, so it's a welcome relief from the idiot kid hecklers behind me. Now they've got bongo drums or something and, although it's kinda funny, its almost impossible to hear anthing Mike is saying.

Matt Knight is getting it done on both ends of the floor. He rebounds very well and is pretty atheltic for a big guy. He sets hard screens and rolls to the basket. He scraps well, has great hands and gets most of his points off offensive rebounds.

Half-time! Its 38-38 and the Sound Tech guy liks Rihanna apparently. It's her fourth song already. T.I. and Moby get some air-time as well. Knight and Dann decide to play some h.o.r.s.e in the shoot-around, and Knight hits a winner as he shoots the ball off the ring to hit the shot clock, slide off the backboard and then dunny roll into the ring.

American Spirirt 6th man David Gruber is quietly having a nice game as he has a dozen or so and Damian Martin is asserting himself more, grabbing rebounds and getting guys open shots, even though he doesn't shoot particularly well.

Neither team can hit freebies, both are shooting around 50-60% from the line I think (I don't have credentials, so I can't get hold of a boxscore at ALL for the game).

After Knight's lefty spin lay-up, its 48-43 Sydney and the Hawks call time with 6:34 to play in the 3rd.

Anthony Petrie is getting into it with Gruber and Knight, who are happy to oblige, throwing elbows and jawing at each-other on dead ball situations. The kid hecklers are saying 'Petrie sucks! Hit the freeway loser!' I give them credit, but they have a lot to learn about heckling opposition players...

The Hawks bench 'plays' a lot younger than the Spirit. Maybe it's the road game, but they get abused by the Sydney bench, particularly Gruber, who goes to work in the post in the third against the smaller Hawks bench.

The Hawks can't get anything going towards the basket, and it shows. Sydney are closing down the lane in their zone D, and the Hawks shooters, particularly Saville and Matt Campbell are struggling. Kavossy Franklin can't get anything going, although he is trying hard.

Petrie hits a lefty lay-up and, although its only 49-45, the Hawks are in more trouble than it seems.

Another Hawks turn-over leads to an acrobatic lay-up by Dann. Both teams are finally starting to hit their free-throws and its 54-49 SYD with 2:34 to play in the 3rd.

Um, Reed almost airballed a three for the Spirit, but that's ok, because they're up by 6 right now and looking pretty comfortable.

Some easy baskets for Cam Tragardh cut the lead to three, and an an announcement says that it's Smith's 400th game. Everyone applauds, but most of them know it anyways.

Franklin misses two free-throws, but taps in his own miss on the buzzer and its 58-53 heading into the 4th quarter.

Sydney loves Rihanna still! Yay!

Damian Martin goes C2C and dishes to Gruber for a lay-in. The Hawks cut it to 60-57 with 10:53 to go and Franklin looks like he might be ready to take over the game.

Knight pops out and hits an elbow jumper! I told you he could hit shots! Petrie fires back with a 18ft baseline jumper.

40 seconds of intense scraping by both teams, culminating in a Hawks turnover and some crazy fan support, Dann skies for a dunk, getting his elbow above the rim, but has his arm pulled on the attempt. Cash, cash and the Spirit are up 5.

Both teams are getting to the line, and whoever hits more often is probably going to take the game the way it's being played right now.

Although Damian Martin (injured wrist) is coming off the bench, he's played a load of minutes tonight even alongside starter Luke Martin (think Felton and Augustin for the Cats). The combination proving deadly mid-way through the fourth, both hustling for loose balls and creating shots for Gruber and Knight especially.

Knight scores, and he's got 15 and it's 65-59 Spirit. Too much of a lead?

Franklin has had an extremely quiet second half. Time-out Hawks and Saville ices a corner 3 straight away. An excellent seal by Gruber in the low post makes it a 2 possession game and he's got 20.

Hmm, Franklin goes C2C and then Dann hits a huge 3 from a good 2 feet beyond the arc. Mike opens his arms like God and yells in my ear 'He's really developed that shot of late!' It turns out that I share something in common with Graham, Luke Martin and 2 other players on the Spirit- we all train (or have trained) under Coach Smith, who's in the States right now with Ater at Uconn.

The crowd is amped up as the game comes down to the last few minutes and the announcer is doing a good job getting people involved. It's a real family atmosphere here right now. Even the stupid kids are cheering, rather than trying to abuse the Hawks team. The bongo drums are in full beat.

Graeme Dann wears some really nice K1X shoes.

Franklin hits a 3 to make it a 9 point game after Gruber abuses Saville down low.

Knight gets 2 and Saville bangs in a 3 to make it 75-67 Spirit.

Dusty Rychart has decided to show up! He hits a 3 for the Hawks off a nice Franklin feed and its 75-70. Timeout Sydney!

Jason Smith hits one of only 3 field goals for the game out of the timeout.

A Damian to Luke to Smith Alley-oop is the highlight of the night-no dribble and two passes to get to the other end. Nice play.

Matty Knight is limping, he must've been corked or something earlier. 2:25 to play.

The Spirit effectively seal the game with 2 offensive rebounds in a row and 1 minute drained off the clock.

Knight decides to stick the nail in the coffin as the 6-9PF/C steps outside and hits a long-range bomb. He starts jumping up and down and the Spirit players embrace him in celebration. He has 20 and this game is almost through.

Luke Martin gets an And-one (there are only two or three in the whole game). 85-72 with 1:15 to play.

Rychart and Franklin get baskets to make it 85-76, but Smith hits two freebies to end any remote hope of a T-mac 13 in 33 type comeback.

Petrie hits a 2, then its all over.

Apparently not. The refs call a foul on the buzzer (don't you just hate that?) and your final score is 88-78 Sydney Spirit over the Wollongong Hawks.

post-game:

The Spirit are very welcoming to fans after the game, applauding their support. Coach Rob Beveridge thanks the fans and so does Jason Smith. A fine 400th game present. A pity he only shot 3/15.

I meet Beveridge, Smith, Damian Martin and Graham. All are extremely welcoming and friendly. Graham says he'll be sure to check the blog after I write down the site address.

Rob Beveridge and Jason Smith are definitely classy individuals. They listen and give their attention as we speak.

Smith briefly mentions that the players are forced to write the game reports on the Spirit website, because all unnecessary staff were let go after the Spirit collapsed earlier this season.

Almost all of their salary comes from door sales, so please get out to the games if you can Sydneysiders.

I was not expecting this at all, but..... I've been offered the opportunity to help out with the Spirit by writing articles for them for the website. This means I'll be able to sit in the media area (there was only one journalist there this evening). I'll also get access to practices. I immediately accepted the offer by both Rob and Jason- if they read this, I offer them my thanks and congratulations on the win.

I understand that this was extremely long, and I applaud you for reading the whole game notes.

Smith finished with 13, Knight with 20 and 10 and David Gruber had a very quiet and subtle game high 26 on 13/15 shooting.

Damian Martin, in his first game back had 6 pts, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the win.

Somehow Rychart had 21 and 12, Franklin added 19 and Petrie finished with 12.

By Money Bill

Note: Half of the following was written on a plane home from Honolulu to Sydney. The other half was written just after watching Denver v Miami @ Denver.

What’s good movers & shakers?

I’ve been a member of this site for a minute or two but this is my first piece that I've posted. Reason’s for this delayed reaction include University exams, stress at work, dead computer and too much time spent at the gym or playing hoops. But enough about me for a second.

The following are random notes and thoughts that I currently have. Completely biased so I am prepared for an NBK sized bashing from the masses:

Lebron hands down will win the MVP award this year. At the time of writing this the Cav’s record is 28-6. It can be assumed that this is not down to the play of Ben Wallace or Delonte West. By improving his previously criticised defensive abilities to near epic proportions while maintaining his usual stats should make it clear cut that the King will bring home the hardware this year. And to Russ or AllenP ( i forget who wrote the comment) I am not a LBJ dickhugger.

Mamba just doesn’t deserve this award this season, but I feel he would come in second. His dimished role might put him out of contention for MVP in my books, but he can still light it up when necessary. But I still hate him. Not to Eboy sized proportions, but the dislike rages within.

How do flight attendants call flight attending a real job. They don’t own the airline, all they have to do is give out bags of mixed nuts and top your drink up for a couple of hours then have a three day holiday at the other end. I’m sorry to anybody who is a steward or stewardess, but your all bludgers!

Why do parents with newborn babies think that going on an overseas trip that includes a 10 hour plane ride is a good idea? Once they hit 12 or 13, they’re not going to remember the trip anyway. I keep getting strange looks from the air hostess every time one of the baby’s behind me leaves a 'duty free souvenir' the whole plane can smell. But what the attendant know, she’s a bludger anyway. Parents with newborn’s should be made to ride in cargo, or better yet a boat!

Dick Vitale is commenting on his first NBA game since 1984. Let’s pray that it’s an even greater time between drinks for good old Dick. All he seems spit get out is how good he was in projecting college talent that made it to the top in the NBA. Sorry Dick, but Wade & Melo's promising career’s are not solely based on your predictions five years ago.

I liked Melo a lot more with his braids. I liked Nene’ a lot more without his braids.

I refuse to believe that JR Smith has a consistent jump shot. Dude just throws it up and hopes for the best. My hypothesis is he just got lucky vs Miami

My mate Dave is a casual NBA fan and when Chris Anderson checks in Dave turns to me and says “ Does he have the Crusty Demons tour bus waiting outside for him so they can get to the next show”.

In evaluating Daves comment, I think that Birdman is one of the most non NBA looking NBA players in the history of the game. What do you guys think?

Hodge: Out of Australia

So.... I didn't see this one coming. At all. Julius he-of-my-last-few-posts has decided to leave the Adelaide 36'ers on a contract dispute.
Eveything is shady right now, as a press conference only took place a few hours ago local Sydney time....which was very uninforming I must say!
It appears as though it's been a long-running spat with management since he arrived in December though. He wanted his money as soon as he arrived (I imagine it was because he was afraid that the 36'ers would collapse, similair to 2 other clubs have this season) so he got paid upfront for the whole season (which is very unusual obviously).
As I said, things are very shady, but obviously in the next few days, things will come out in the media. His agent is in the USA, so he was unavailable for comment. I'l do a longer, more 'professional' post when the dusts settles, so keep an eye out.

PS- He isn't a cookie or a biscuit, he's VON Waffffeerrrrr!! Yeh I doubted my boys last night, but they got it done against Boston, which I'm very happy about. Hopefully Wafer remembers the make and not the airball 3 a few possessions earlier ;) Maybe things can turn around from here? Boston has lost 6 of its last 8, this was only their second loss at HOME all season too and the Rockets are 14-1 when Yao Ming scores 20+points.

Peace, Hursty.

MORE Random Musings! (Hurrah!)

Moose is back with some more non-serious writing. I've been messing around with Hibachi posts for my last couple, and sorry if you're a bit sick of them by now, I just thought I'd drop another one before going to snow-delayed school.

Aight, first thing's first, my Celtics. We are in a slump. Yes, it's true a loss to the Knicks and an overtime loss to the Bobcats (sit down BET, we know what you wanna say) really say that. But, I'm not worried. As I damn shouldn't be. If they have to slump, now would be the time. No doubt we'll be there in the end.

Anyways, their schedule. Tonight Boston takes on Houston at home, so RV and Hursty, it's on. Perk's gonna shut Yao down like Artest will shut down Pierce. Not quite sure if that'll happen, though . . . let's just say Perk's gonna do what he did to Ming last time he saw him. If Artest plays, that is. He didn't last night. Anyways . . .

Rondo, Rondo Rondo . . . slumping. Last night he had a career high in turnovers last night with NINE. Ouch. He did score 16, grab 4 and dish out 6, which is nice, but we can't have these TOs. These last four or five games has convinced me that Rondo isn't quite at an all-star level. In future years, believe me, he'll be there, but for the moment, not quite. I won't complain if he doesn't make it.

Which brings me to my next point, all-stars. Of course I've been voting every single day, for the guys who I believe should be in. Here's my ballot:

East:
G: Dwyane Wade
G: Joe Johnson
F: Danny Granger
F: LeBron James
C: Dwight Howard

West:
G: Chauncey Billups
G: Chris Paul
F: Amar'e Stoudemire
F: Tim Duncan
C: Al Jefferson

Some of it is personal preference, some of it isn't. Kobe didn't get my vote, Dirk truly deserves it but he didn't get my vote. Yes, Big Al's team sucks, but he is putting up gaudy numbers, and the centers in the West aren't on par with the rest of the league (barring Yao and Shaq) and he's one of my favorites.

CAN WE PLEASE VOTE CHAUNCEY BILLUPS!!!????!!!!???? This guy really needs to get voted. Look what happened! Denver is 24-12, Billups is doing great, and he deserves the spot. Any other questioning of my votes need to be brought to me personally, I will defend them. Wow, isn't the dunk contest awesome? What a great bridge to my next point!

Everybody vote Rudy Fernandez into the dunk contest. Every day, pass up Westbrook and Alexander, and vote Fernandez. We will truly get our money's worth if we vote Rudy. Sorry if that was a bit forceful, I just think that Fernandez will bring us the best show and competition to Nate Rob/Howard/Gay.

Another point of frustration. "Notorious", the new movie coming out about Biggie is rated R. That sucks. I am not 17. I can't go to that movie. Meh. And, to pile on, the Patriots didn't even make the playoffs. Fly Eagles, fly! I'm going for Philly there. Anyways . . . I forgot to mention, Celtics-Cavs on Friday, mark your calendars. In Cleveland. We better wake up for that one.

Eric Gordon dropped 32 last night. The Year of the Rookie. This class is looking legit. Pick it up, B-Easy! He's the only one slackin'. Rose, Mayo, Westbrook, Augustin, Gordon, even LOPEZ . . . and Beasley's got 13 and 5. Not turrible. But not living up to the hype. Not good enough for ROY. Pick it up, Mike. Anyways . . . (I've been saying that too much, huh?)

Marbury in Boston? Meh. Feels like a cancer to me. I don't really want Steph over here, it'd just be too nerve wracking. We have guys off the bench who can play, and Starbury needs the ball for a while to be successful. One of the last thing's we need is a shoot-first point guard off the bench we can spread the ball around because our bench can score. Marbury might rip us apart. But I have faith that Ainge will do what's best for the team, so it shouldn't be a problem (no matter what happens).

I'm out, everyone, sorry if this post was somewhat nagging and annoying . . . but I said what I wanted to say.

Houston, we have a problem...

Looks like the rumor i posted, i think a week ago or so, was just that, a rumor.......this is yet another "rumor", but apparently this is from a Rockets' insider who has some credibility.

Nothing is set yet, but Tmac appears to be on the trading block and rumor is Houston would trade him only to an Eastern team for the right price, whatver that means. There's rumors about Toronto, Orlando, Indiana.

Either way, what is NOT a rumor is that there's some trouble in Houston. If you haven't heard by now, Tmac complained about "only touching the ball every 5 mins" recently. during that same game Tmac was very uninterested and out of it, even playing matador defense on Jamario Moon when he literally stepped aside and allowed him to drive for a dunk. Later he took it back, saying after watching film he realized he had some opportunities and didn't take them, but it was too late. Local reporters are writing several teammates have confronted Tmac and basically told him to get his act straight. There's been a lot of quotes from the team to the media speaking about "brining energy and focus", and although they don't single anyone out, it's pretty clear they mean Tmac. Deke also spoke recently and said he's received calls from players who told him they desperately needed his leadership to get guys focused. Most recently, Tmac spoke about his critics, saying he knows he's having problems, but it's purely physical. He also said once he comes back front this, he, and not the critics, will have the last laugh....

Random Musings, Surprise Teams, NBA Look-Alikes, And "Which NBA Player Are You?"

Moose here. Hello, SLAM and Blogger family!

First, I have an announcement. Everyone knows how I'm a great Boston Celtics fan. Everyone also knows that I am very loyal to my point guard and favorite player, Rajon Rondo. So, I have started a new blog that will be updated almost daily (Hibachi 2.0 is still top priority) for everyone who is even remotely interested in Boston sports from ACFPOV (A Celtics Fan Point Of View).

It is found on the right hand column of this site, in the Blog List. It is called The Roost Of Rondo's Retinue (cute, huh?) and it is found at http://roostofrondosretinue.blogspot.com/ . I have a few readers (fellow Celtics fans) but I'd like a few more, so this was to spread the word.

This post is kind of devoted to random musings and announcements, and I also kind of wanted to post something as winter vacation closes out (back to school on Tuesday . . . meh. Say nothing, Hursty). One thought: Charles Barkley needs to stop doing things that hold him true to his "I am not a role model" schtick.

Being convicted of suspected DUI (we all know why, but I'm not gonna get all awkward on here) is not a good way to maintain a good reputation. With Sir Charles it's really a love-hate type of thing. He says a lot of stuff that makes me say to myself "Did he really just say that?", but he is hella funny a lotta the time. He was also a great player, fun to watch and all.

OK, on to current NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers are stunningly close to my hometown Boston Celtics. We have a 29-5 record, where Cleveland has a 27-6 mark. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOLKS. This Friday, Celtics@Cavs. Getcha popcorn ready. And, hats off to the fellow-five-lossers LA Lakers. Happy birthday, B. Long and Presto.

Another team to point out . . . Miami Heat. 18-14, and Dwyane Wade is making a very strong case for MVP. He's posting averages of 28.8 points, 7.0 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Those are gaudy numbers. Behind LeBron (who is running away with it in a way) he gets my vote. Too bad I don't have one. Congrats, Eboy.

I have been noticing a few NBA look-alikes over the past couple of weeks as well. Is it just me, or does Javale Mcgee look eerily like our President Elect, Barack Obama? That's something I've noticed. Corey Maggette looks a lot like Xzibit as well. Noticed that when I was watching Gridiron Gang (pretty good movie, no?). Also, Baron Davis and Kanye West. Of course, Sam Cassell and E.T. Kyle Korver and Ashton Kutcher.

Another thing . . . I've been thinking about "Which NBA Player Are You?"'s for the dudes who belong/read this blog, but I can't come up with anything. Anyone wanna help me out? Anyways, Fly Society inductions. Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Mike Bibby with the buzzer beaters. Incredible.

Just thought I'd drop you guys a few lines, so there it is. Later, everyone!

News as i see it

So their is a hell of a lot going on in the world, and after educational diolouge on SKO (which is all that site is for), i decided i will break down news stories as i see them. Lets get shit cracking:

1. Muslim Family Kicked off Trans Air plane, for 'sespecisous tarroist like talkin'

http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSTRE5012XV20090102

This is nothing to joke about. Every day religious people of the Islamic faith are discriminated against. I have several muslim friends. All of which are good people. When i heard about this story i was disgusted. This was just your average family talking about where the safest place on the plane is to sit. Lots of people are scared of flying, its a common phobia. But it appears in America, more people are scared of Muslims, because these people were all taken off the plane, interogated by THE FBI (who for the record, the people said were very very nice to them) and then cleared for flying. It was all unnessary, but then what really shocked me is that this company REFUSED TO RE-BOOK THEM. That is just digusting.

I find it ironic that the FBI was the nicest of all the people they met, because usally you would expect the people who have to 'protect' us to be the mean hard asses that dropped out of high-school. But instead they were the ones with with common sence. This changed my views on them, but it also showed me that even waaaaaaaay after 9/11, idiots are scared to have people who only share a common faith as the hijackers in the air. America needs to get educated.

2. The Israeli - Gaza Strip incident.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/0102/p99s01-duts.html

That is the latest thing to come up about this whole mess. We got into this yesterday. I still keep my views that Israel should not be bombing, but it appears that they actually killed something that they were suppose to kill. This is a rare occurance in any bombing campiagn, to kill a enemy leader.

However my views have not changed that bombing areas that have more civillians than Hamas millitants is a terrible idea.

Hamas decided it wants to shoot more rockets in responce to this, but they clearly fail to understand that for every rocket they fire, Israel will just respond with more bombs being dropped on their peoples heads, while Hamas hides underground and waits for the planes to go away, innocent people in Gaza die. Its a shame, and somebody should tell the Israelis to readjust their stratgey or just stop via a cease fire.

3. Some war i never even knew exsisted ended today

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/03/world/asia/03lanka.html?ref=world

WTF? I didnt even know this shit was going on. More reading is needed before i judge this.

4. Obama talking to Cuba

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7807348.stm

The news wouldnt shut up about this yesterday, so i did my research.
I decided that even though Cuba royally fucked us, and constantly stood up to us in the past, we should talk to them and make life easier on them. They arent a threat to anyone anymore. They are like a person with no fingers that owns a gun. Sure they have it, but they cant use it, and would be no challenge to defeat in anything. I hope America changes its plans with how to deal with Cuba in a positive way.

5. Kathy Griffin said the D-Word on tv.

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b77206_kathy_griffin_bleepin_entertaining_dick.html

DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT. Oooooooooh im tellin mama

6. The Aspen Bomber

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-aspen-evacuation2-2009jan02,0,7257375.story

This guy is a little bizarre. Basically he wanted to get money from the banks without robbing them, so he leaves 2 bombs in 2 banks with notes. Did he really think they would give him money? The dumbass shot himself in the end. What a silly silly goose. If you want money, do it the old fashion way and point a gun to the teller. Idiot.

7. Blagojevich is a attention whore who enjoys picking controversial figures to fill Senate seat!

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/01/illinois.senate.seat/

Basically, for all yall that dont know, this guy tried to sell Obama's old Senate seat. Then he failed, got caught, hired a INSANE lawyer, and said "the truth is on my side". Now he decides that he will choose somebody to fill the seat. Even though its clear this guy he picked isnt involved with the coruption in any possible way, it still doesnt change the fact that he was picked by Blago the Great. His name is Roland Burris for all yall that care.

I think that this guy SHOULD be a Senator, but SHOULD NOT get the seat because of who he was picked by. Fair is fair. You cant say 'i think what Blagojevich did is wrong' and still say 'but i want the seat he gave me too'. So Roland Burris just stay home. Dont start all this drama THAT WILL occur.

That is all.

Get It Settled

By Hursty.

This is for the slamonline family and its extended brethren. AKA- EVERYONE.

The last two or three days have been interesting. Yes we've had New Years Eve and Day, the week before that we had Christmas. More importantly though, there's been some discussion of what a slam commenters basketball team would look like.

The following people have thrown their figurative 'hats' in the ring as best as I can tell:
Eboy, TAD, Moose, Justin, B.Long, yours truly.

I think that if they had been aware of the discussion that the following would also like to 'play': Cub, Tariq, Jukai, BET, DP, Shia, Bodie- Yeh Im definitely missing players/posters- but thats what the comment section is for damnit!

Anyways, If you think you should make the final cut, and you're interested in making a hypothetical team lemme know in the comment section by throwing out your credentials....

ps- Caron Butler is out indefinitely with an ankle sprain.
