Steve Francis was traded today.....to Memphis....for a conditional 2nd round pick in 2011. Memphis also gets a 2009 2nd round pick and cash......kinda sucks since I feel he still has game, not Franchise type game, but solid starter type. However, with the emergence of Brooks and Rafer still decent, there just aren't any minutes for him, but I don't think Houston actually was trying to trade him.
It seems Mutombo's recent comments may have pushed them to make this deal. Deke recently said he'd be in Boston or San Antonio by Jan. Houston still needed to clear cap space and was looking at other options to make it happen. Now they pretty much HAD to do something to be able to sign Deke...

El Oh freakin El
They basically gave him away, a 2011 second round pick? Well, it brings a seasoned (perhaps a little too seasoned) vet to Memphis, something they need. But another guard? Hmmm. But this is good for the Rockets because it puts them under the luxury tax threshold, and they can sign another player if they want to.
*not second round, just a pick
Merry Christmas bitches. Memphis doesn't get much out of this in my view. What is he? A scoring guard. Why would Memphis need him when they have Orange Juice Mayonnaise? Methinks somebody is clearing cap space.
My thoughts exactly @ Justin Walsh
Maybe they are clearing space, but francis is on the veterans minimum or something very close to it. This was a rockets trade mostly, and it is for Dikembe.
